In Time – Review – 2 Stars
Spend two hours doing or watching anything else except this. Please, I urge you. It’s not the worst film ever, but it’s just not very good.
Conceptually it’s a good story, and Roger Deakins has some beautiful shots on display, but it’s just full of lacklustre performances. JT, who shined so much in ‘The Social Network’ just doesn’t seem to engage. The dialogue is very poor, as is the romance at the heart of the story. Moments and lines all seem too contrived, too on the nose, as if written by an average seond year film student and to be honest, everyone who I watched with either lost concentration or fell asleep (me).
The film just couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. Was it ‘Bonnie and Clyde stealing time?’, was it a fugitive movie? It just kept changing. It’s not engaging and I don’t want to waste any more of my precious time writing about it. Stay away!
P.S. Olivia Wilde was barely in it either… that just sucks.
